Megan Keller deked a defender and slid in a game-winning goal in overtime to lead Team USA past Canada in Thursday's Winter Olympics gold medal game.

Team Sprint (Freestyle) — The Team Sprint event fields paired teams of two athletes each, and follows the interval-start format. Each of a team’s two skiers alternate in timed turns around the event’s 1,585-meter (approximately 1 mile) course, with the event’s final round consisting of more overall laps than the earlier, qualifying knockout round.

This was the seventh gold medal match — and fifth in a row — between the two hockey powerhouses.

Players with Seattle’s new professional women’s hockey team helped Team USA win gold at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The U.S. women’s hockey team beat reigning champion Canada 2–1 in overtime in Milan, Italy, after dominating through the entire tournament.

American Alysa Liu won gold in women's figure skating, becoming the first American woman to do so since 2002. American speedskater Jordan Stolz took silver in the 1,500-meter final. He'd previously won two gold medals at these Games, and he'll have another shot to medal Saturday.

There was a lot of pressure on U.S. figure skater Alysa Liu heading into the free skate on Thursday night. The 20-year-old was Team USA’s last hope of an individual gold medal in figure skating after disappointing results from both the women and the men.
