As athletes from Croatia and Australia crossed the finish line, a dog suddenly wandered onto the course. The pup paused to glance toward the cameras before appearing to notice the skiers and sprinting toward the finish behind them. (Hey, even canines can have Olympic dreams.)

A dog stole the show on the mountain while members of Team Croatia and Team Australia were getting ready to cross the finish line in women’s cross-country skiing during the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Give that dog a medal. A determined canine stole the show during qualifying for the women’s cross-country team sprint at the Winter Olympics on Wednesday. The dog broke free from its owner and crossed the finish line before it was finally coaxed off the course,
"Anybody lost their dog?" the on-course announcers joked during the women's cross-country team sprint event
Competitors from every country have shown up in Italy for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina – and so have competitors of every species! In a bid for Olympic glory, the Canine Delegation sent their best cross-country four-legged athlete to take part in the Olympic Games.
